Our commitment
BabyTime is committed to making its website and iPhone app usable by as many parents and caregivers as possible, including people with visual, hearing, motor, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
Accessibility is ongoing work. We aim to include it in design, development, content, and testing decisions rather than treating it as a one-time checklist.
Our accessibility target
For web content, BabyTime uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as its current target where applicable. WCAG organizes accessibility around content that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
This statement describes a target and ongoing effort. It is not a claim that every BabyTime screen or feature has been independently audited or formally certified as conforming.
Website support
The BabyTime website and policy pages are designed with features including:
- Semantic page landmarks, heading order, lists, and descriptive link text.
- A skip link and visible keyboard focus for people navigating without a pointer.
- Responsive layouts intended to reflow without horizontal scrolling at common mobile widths.
- Text and interface colors chosen for readable contrast.
- Support for browser zoom and user preferences that reduce motion.
- Content that remains available without relying on animation, hover, or color alone.
iPhone app support
BabyTime is built with native iOS technology and aims to work with Apple's accessibility features. Current and planned testing includes VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and larger text, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion, Switch Control, and Voice Control.
We prioritize clear control labels, predictable navigation, adequately sized touch targets, readable care summaries, and alternatives to visual-only meaning. Accessibility support may vary by app version, iOS version, device, and feature.
Known limitations
BabyTime is still being refined. Some areas may not yet provide the experience we want, including:
- Dense charts, timelines, and summary screens at the largest text sizes.
- Some icon-only controls that may need clearer assistive-technology labels or hints.
- Charts and visual patterns that may need richer nonvisual descriptions.
- User-added photos that may not have text alternatives.
- New or recently changed features that have not completed manual assistive-technology testing.
These items guide continuing accessibility work. The list may change as testing and the product evolve.
